Welcome Message From The Head
The Department was first curved out from the Department of Pharmacology in 1980. It was first headed by the late Prof. J.A. Owoyale and subsequently by six others. The Department is located in the 3rd and 4th floor of the main faculty building. The Department has 3-laboratories; instrument room, 18 offices and a conference room
The Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry courses were designed in order to orient and impact the theoretical and practical knowledge to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of advanced Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry relevant to the pharmacy profession.
The undergraduate students in their final year undertake research and write a project in one of the following areas.
- Pharmaceutical inorganic and organic chemistry
- Pharmaceutical Analysis/Drug Quality Control
- Organic Synthesis
- Medicinal Chemistry
- Natural Product Chemistry
